Zöë Senga Hyman, 25, left our earthly plane on June 15th, 2026, at 11:57 am.
She was a vibrant, creative, and deeply original human being who embraced life on their own terms. A talented artist and free spirit, Zöë had a unique perspective on the world. Throughout her life, she touched countless people in the Charleston community with authenticity, kindness, humor, and creativity.
Born December 7, 2000, Zöë entered the world three months premature, weighing less than two pounds. The first three months of her life were spent in intensive care, and she overcame extraordinary challenges from the first day of life.
Zöë attended St. Johns Catholic School until 6th grade and graduated from Charleston County School of the Arts. Alongside her father Phillip, they taught art classes at Trident Technical College summer camps, where she met fiancé Edward Black. Throughout her life, Zöë volunteered at Charleston Animal Society, using her creative skills to help kids and animals. Her artistic talents included SFX makeup for commercials as well as local conventions, painting, graphic design, and much more. She was consistently challenging herself to learn new mediums. Her artistic career after high school included attending local communal events where she sold her unique art line of characters, “Stuffy Monsterz”. Zöë had been apprenticing as a tattoo artist at Abracadabra Tattoo Club for the past year and a half, pursuing her passion for art and self-expression. Her creativity and talent will live on through the tattoos she created-lasting works of art carried on the bodies of those who were fortunate enough to wear them.
She was deeply loved by her parents, Phillip and Kay Hyman; by the love of her life and fiancé, Edward Black; and by her many close and extended family members. As an only child, Zöë was the center of her family’s world, and her loss leaves a void that can never be filled.
Zöë will live in our hearts and memories, and we will continue to share the story of her life filled with kindness, acceptance, and love.
A celebration of her life will be announced by the family at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
