Zennie Quinn, 80, of James Island, SC, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 30, 2026. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12 at 1:00 PM at J Henry Stuhr Funeral Chapel (3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, Charleston, SC 29414), with a short service to follow at 3 pm. A grave-side service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412 at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 13. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc.
Zennie was born April 19, 1945, son of Zennie James Quinn, Sr and Nellie Brock Quinn, and younger brother of Patricia Quinn Tyndall. He grew up on a family farm in eastern NC, which was dear to his heart. Zennie attended BF Grady and East Duplin High Schools and went on to NC State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education. He moved to Charleston, SC where he met and, in January 1980, married Laine Almstead Quinn and raised their two daughters. Zennie's careers took him from the Lipton Company tea research on Wadmalaw Island, to Porsche Cars North America, and later Lowe's Companies, where he retired in 2012. He then enjoyed working seasonally at Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission. Zennie has been recognized for tirelessly working on behalf of his community. He was active in initiatives to add more parks through the Town of James Island, with the Town's planning commission, and with Neighborhood Watch. While he volunteered with numerous community groups and was a member of the Charleston Elks Lodge 242 and American Legion Post 147, his most important role was always being a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Quinn is survived by daughters Lisa Quinn and Katie Quinn Clair (Michael) and grandchildren Mia Clair and Charlie Clair. He is also survived by brother-in-law Paul Tyndall, nieces, cousins, and other family.
He was preceded in death by parents Zennie James Quinn, Sr & Nellie Brock Quinn, sister Patricia Quinn Tyndall, and wife Laine Almstead Quinn.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to his local Charleston Elks Lodge 242 ("Elks National Foundation," 1113 Sam Rittenburg Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407).
