Yvonne Marie Townsend Maher

Mrs. Yvonne Townsend Maher of James Island, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sept 29, 2024. Yvonne left her earthly home surrounded by her family and her best friend, sharing memories of her life and celebrating the legacy she leaves behind. Yvonne fought cancer courageously and will be forever remembered for her brave and determined spirit. 

Yvonne was born June 17, 1957 in Charleston, SC to Marie and Robert Townsend. She is survived by her husband Ray Maher; her children Katherine Kincaid (Kris) and Christopher Maher (Nadia); her grandson Bellamy; her brother Bobby Townsend (Susan) and sisters Tammy Whaley (Keith) and Sandy Townsend (Reid). 

The joy of Yvonne’s life was her grandson Bellamy who called her GiGi. She loved her children, nieces and nephews with all her heart. 

She had many friends and was known for her kindred spirit. Her happy place was the “JIYC Club” where she loved to drink a glass of wine and watch the sun set. Her family and friends will remember Yvonne in beautiful sunsets. 

Though we weep now we are comforted with the promise that joy comes in the morning.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, at 12:00 pm. Following the service the family will receive friends at the James Island Yacht Club, 734 Wampler Drive. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.
