Wynema L Atkins, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Van D Atkins, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 28, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, May 10, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.  

Wynema was born September 26, 1936 in Ada, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Philander Young Lee and Mary Etta Patterson Akins. She was a charter member of Charleston Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener, and sewing, traveling in her motor home, and cooking, many times cooking for the entire church. She also loved yard sales with her friends Kay Sillivant and Rita Varnado. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by her son, Ronny Hilton (Hillary); daughter, Cheri Marie Atkins Calhoun (Robert Wayne); daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Hilton; two sisters, Thelma Webb, Velma Barrett; nine grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her sons, Johnny Hilton, John Atkins, Tom Atkins, David Atkins; brothers, Earl Lee, Dennis Atkins ; sister, Magalene Starnes.

Memorials may be made to Charleston Baptist Church.
