Woodrow William Tidwell, 85 of James Island, South Carolina passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at 11:00 am, Monday 7th November at J. Henry Stuhr, West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414. Family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am. Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave North Charleston, SC 29406.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Vickie, his children, daughter, Kimberly (Tidwell) Pieper, and sons, Eric Tidwell, and Chris Tidwell; grandchildren William, Payton, Andrew, Ryan, Daniel, Chloe’, Brittany, and Taylor, and soon to be 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind close in laws in Kathy W. Burnet and her husband Frederick of West Ashley, SC.
The only son of Woodrow and Jennie Tidwell, Bill left his mark on life. As a young man he graduated from Chicora High School, where his musical talents had him in the acclaimed marching band. He then joined the Air Force and made several stops during his service, including Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, IL and also Columbus, OH. As a quick learner, Bill was working on airplanes, and ensuring all systems were go! Bill made a number of friends from South Korea and shared with his family his learned international language skills.
After completing his military duty, Bill realized various career moves, including become an expert at building and repairing typewriters. However, Bill’s gift for communication and storytelling found him in sales and ultimately sales management. From representing the biggest auto dealerships in the low country to ultimately helping many transplant northerns to cooling systems of Dan’s Fan City. Bill had a personality that befriended him with everyone that met him. He will dearly be missed.
