Wilma Daphene Waddell Smith, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Andrew Jackson Smith, Jr., entered into eternal rest Friday, October 2, 2015. Her memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015, in John Wesley United Methodist Church, 626 Savannah Highway, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston.
Wilma was born February 21, 1923 in Grassy Creek, North Carolina, daughter of the late Eugene Waddell and Maude Perkins Waddell. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University and was a retired North Carolina school teacher. Daphene was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Marie S. Hoddinott, granddaughter, Daphne Hoddinott, both of Charleston, SC; and a brother, Horace Waddell of Grassy Creek, NC.
