Wilma Legretha Jackson, 89, of Summerville, South Carolina, wife of the late Marvin L. Jackson, entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 4, 2025. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Wilma was born September 18, 1935 in Hemingway, South Carolina, daughter of the late John M. and Tulah Newell. Wilma was a graduate of Hemingway High School and Rice Business College. She was a co-owner of Jackson's Inc. of Charleston which operated as a business machine and printing company. Business closed after 42 years of continuous operation in Charleston. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Wilma loved to travel. She and Marvin traveled all 50 states of the USA and visited several other countries. After Marvin's death, she traveled extensively for 8 years with Top of The Line Tours.
She is survived by daughter, Debra J. Petrak (David); son, Gary L. Jackson (Kathy);granddaughter, Stephanie Jackson Fletcher (Allen); two sisters, Mary Coughlin of St. Augustine, FL, Talou Altman of Hemingway, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Jonathan Petrak; brother, John M. Newell; sisters, Beverly Boswell, Juanita Maranville, Vesta Woodfield, Norma Jean Peterson, and Genevieve Owens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church.
