Wilma Frances Hodge Guerry, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Jack Paul Guerry entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park 7113 Rivers Ave. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Wilma was born in Winchester, Kentucky, the daughter of Ernest and Alma Hodge. She married Jack Guerry in October, 1955. She spent the majority of her adult life in Hanahan, SC where she raised her 2 daughters. Her last year was spent at The Bridges of Charleston Assisted Living where she lived with our Dad. The staff became her extra family and loved her like she was their own grandmother. But she always seemed to have that effect on people. She was preceded in death by her 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters.

She and Daddy celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary before he passed away in December 2025. She is now with him in heaven. She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Sherrill (Scott) and Paula Hooper (Larry); granddaughters Julie Brown (Paul) and Mary Hooper, grandson Anderson Sherrill (Allie), 3 great grandsons; Samuel Redmond, Jackson Redmond and Anders Sherrill, and a great-granddaughter, Bailey Sherrill. Wilma was a wonderful, kind and sweet lady who was loved by friends and family. She was a big fan of antique malls and yard sales. We spent many a day with her shopping and we would tell her that's just junk. But she bought it anyway and usually resold it for a profit at the next yard sale! It was certainly her happy place. She worked at Roper Hospital for years in the Physical Therapy department. Unsurprisingly, she was loved and respected by her fellow employees and all the patients she helped. Wilma was also active in her church and community. She served on the finance committee, worked in the nursery with her favorite age, babies, did VBS for years, and pretty much everything else a Baptist church could offer. She also worked with Meals on Wheels. She was given the Humanitarian Award for her work at the homeless shelter in Charleston and for her kindness and service to others. She was always a true friend and took meals and gave support to so many. But most of all, she was a wonderful daughter of the King and her faith and love were evident to all who met her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her favorite humans on earth and they felt the same about her. We were so very blessed to be her daughters and our hearts are broken. But we know where she is, with Jesus, and we know Daddy is glad to see her. We just hope there are yard sales in heaven! Life will never be the same but we know we will see her again.
