Willie Mae "Billie" Chandler Thompson, 96, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Clyde Eugene Thompson, entered into eternal rest Monday, August 22, 2016. The family will receive friends Thursday in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 in Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Avenue at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Her Graveside Service will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.
Billie was born July 8, 1920 in Mississippi, daughter of the late James Manuel Chandler and Flora Kelly Chandler. She worked for the Charleston Naval Shipyard, American Mutual Insurance, and then retired from Geer Drug Company. She was a Charter member of Wando Woods Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to the four and five year olds, and served on the Counting Committee until the age of 95. Billie dedicated her life to her faith, family, and friends. Her selfless nature and kindred spirit will forever be cherished.
She is survived by her three daughters, Dolores Lindley of Indian Land, SC, Cynthia Belvin (Noral) of Whitsett, NC, Vicki Dangerfield (Dale) of Charleston, SC; brother, William C. Chandler of Charleston, SC; 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Mark C. Thompson, two brothers, Hollis and Woodrow Chandler, three sisters, Bertie Austin, Jackie McGrail, Grace Hiott, son-in-law, Bill Lindley, and great-granddaughter, Caroline Hantske.
