Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of February 11, 2011, Willie May Harvey Grooms, widow of Edward L. "Bootsie" Grooms. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Riverview Memorial Park. Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Grooms was born May 1, 1926 in Georgetown, SC, a daughter of the late Clifton Harvey and the late Eloise Barfield Harvey Jenkins. She was raised by Augustus Earl Jenkins. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and a retired ward secretary for the Charleston Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Grooms was a member of The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Grooms Warren and Pamela Grooms Herron, both of Charleston; three grandchildren, Susan M. Simonin, James Edward Herron and William Gordon Herron; and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Allison Simonin Ansarion.
