Willie Otto Fowler, 91, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away at the Veteran's Victory House in Walterboro, SC on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. The relatives and friends of Willie O. Fowler are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Mr. Fowler was born on August 6, 1920 in Gallivants Ferry, SC, son of the late John Marshall Fowler and Lazinke Shelley Fowler. He was retired from NAVALEX in North Charleston as a Warehouse Supervisor. Mr. Fowler was a veteran of the US Navy and former member of the American Legion in Goose Creek. He was an avid gardener and loved being outside in the yard. He also enjoyed fishing and was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda F. Myers and her husband, David P. Myers of Moncks Corner, SC and Wanda F. Davega and her husband, Jaime R. Davega of St. Louis, MO; son, Lawrence Melvin Fowler of Goose Creek, SC; two step-daughters, Sandra Abbott Dewar and her husband, Douglas Dewar of Oxnard, CA and Jeanne Abbott of Bay St. Louis, MS; grandchildren, David "Buzzy" Myers Jr. and his wife Kelley., Stephanie M. Patterson and her husband, Todd, Brittany Paige Davega and Connor Randall Davega; two step-grandchildren, Richie Cutrer, and Monica C. Levi; and three great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Smith Fowler; his sisters, Viola Lambert, Ethel Huggins, Anna Lee Jenkins; and his brothers, Walter Fowler, Chesley Fowler, Alton Fowler, Worth Fowler, and Donald Fowler; and his step-grandson, Shannon Stevens.
