William Floyd Whitfield

William Floyd Whitfield, Sr., 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of 69 years, Shirley Davis Whitfield entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 28, 2018. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2014 Bees Ferry Road, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2014 Bees Ferry Road at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Floyd was born November 16, 1928 in Townville, South Carolina, son of the late Carodine Newton Whitfield and Lois Bright Whitfield. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and owner of the Whitfield Company. He was also a member of Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. Floyd was a trustee at Charleston Southern University for many years and also served on the Executive Board of Star Gospel Mission.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis Whitfield of Charleston, SC; three sons, William "Bill" Floyd Whitfield, Jr. (Marcy) of Summerville, SC, Timothy W. Whitfield (Alina) of Charleston, SC and James Boren (Amanda) of Asheville, NC; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Burton of Greenville, SC, Nita Jordan of Avon Park, FL and brother, Carodine David Whitfield of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by Hannah Precious his dog of ten years. He was preceded in death by brother Ed Whitfield and Lonnie Whitfield.
