William Eugene Whitehurst, 81, of Charleston, SC, husband of Maxine Johnson Whitehurst, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015. The family will receive friends Friday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial services will be private.

William was born October 22, 1933 in Charleston, SC, son of the late William Henry Whitehurst and Thelma Alice Todd Whitehurst. He attended USC and College of Charleston and was a member of Summerville Presbyterian Church. William spent his career in auto parts sales.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maxine Whitehurst of North Charleston, SC; son, William Lee Whitehurst (Anita) of Hanahan, SC; two sisters, Jeanette Doyle Winfield of Charleston, SC, Frances Alberta Robertson of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Megan L. Whitehurst of Hanahan, SC.

The family wishes to thank the special caregivers from Hospice, Paula and Sherry.
