William Rudolph Thornton, Jr., 65, formerly of Charleston, SC and recently of Anderson, SC, husband of Tracy Nesbitt entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 29, 2021. There will be a gathering of friends and family Friday, September 3, 2021 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC 29406. According to his wishes, cremation will take place and the inurnment will take place at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing.
Bill was born October 30, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late William Rudolph Thornton, Sr. and Dorothy Rawlinson. He loved working in the Paper Mill industry. He was a maintenance planner and worked for the Charleston paper mill for 40 years, before moving to Anderson and continuing in the same industry, working for First Quality Paper. Bill was a HUGE Clemson football fan and loved all things Clemson. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, boating and hanging out at the lake house.
He is survived by his loving wife Tracy; two daughters, Ashley Gandy (Chris) and Lindsey Thornton; five grandchildren, Reagan, Cademon, Micah, Madison and McKenzie; one sister, Cathy Davis (Jerry); niece and nephew, Crystal and Ryan; in-laws, Frank and Mary Nesbitt; sister-in-law, Deanna Nesbitt; brother-in-law Frank Nesbitt, II and their children, Sara, Grace, Allyson and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
