William Philliskirk Steer Story, 94, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Dianne Marie Ripp Story, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Boulevard at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Mr. Story was born June 6, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, son of the late William Morley Steer Story and the late Marion Louise Plews Story. He served in the Canadian Army during World War II with the United States and Canadian Armies' combined First Special Service Force. He was the recipient of the United States Congressional Gold Medal, Canadian Silver Medal, and the United States Bronze Star. He was the Executive Vice President for the National Association of scrap metal processing companies. He sang in a barbershop chorus, was a member of the National Press Club, Kiwanis Club and Hibben United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Kirk Story (Karen), of Bluefield, WV, Marianne Story Yencken (Peter), of Charlottesville, VA, Ronnie Nash (Michelle), of Sterling, VA, Karla Leahy (Dan), of Mount Pleasant, SC, Genevieve Story of Charlottesville, VA; and his nephews, Donald Story of Saskatchewan, Canada and David Story of Ontario, Canada; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myfanwy Evans Story, brother, George Story and foster son, Steve Williams.
