William (Bill) Sexton, Sr.,91 of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife Norma at his side, December 30, 2017. He is now at peace, in the hands of his Lord and Savior. Bill was born on March 12, 1926 in Bluefield, West Virginia, son of late Lark Wade and Cordie Sexton. Bill served in the United States Navy during WWII, arriving in the Asian/Pacific Theatre two weeks after the Japanese surrendered. He told great stories of a young Navy man being in what was a hostile foreign country. He was a retired, life-long car dealer, having the distinction of opening the first Mercedes Benz dealership in Charleston, SC. and continued in the car dealership business until his retirement at age 85.

He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a good and loyal friend to many in Charleston who also will grieve at his passing. He was always willing to help anyone in need and did so quietly on many, many occasions. Bill had three great loves in his life, his family, always first, then the car business and finally, flying airplanes.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Norma Bain Sexton of Charleston, a son, William (Bill) W. Sexton, Jr. of North Charleston, SC; a step-daughter, Deborah Bain Wilkinson (Scott) of Goose Creek, SC; his grand-children: Matthew (Matt) Washburn (Elizabeth) of Atlanta, GA, and Julie Crawford (Christopher) of Missouri City, TX. He had four great-grand-grandchildren: Madelyn Rose, Luke and Charlotte Washburn of Atlanta, GA, and Campbell Crawford of Missouri City, TX. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Sexton Washburn Cawley and his grand-daughter Mandy Sexton.
