William Robert Ferguson, Jr. (Bill) passed away Tuesday, April 22 at the age of 82.
Bill was born January 18, 1943 to William R. Ferguson and Elizabeth Yates Ferguson. Upon graduating high school in Indianapolis, IN he enlisted in the Navy in September 1961. Proudly serving twenty years in the U.S. submarine fleet, aboard both diesel and nuclear boats, he retired with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer Machinist’s Mate. Following the Navy he utilized his skills as a meticulous engineer with Life Cycle Engineering in Charleston, and later with King America Finishing in Sylvania, GA. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman. With his expertise as an engineer he was particularly proud of the two boats he re-built and fished with respectable success in Charleston area tournaments.
He is survived by: his brother John Ferguson (Karen); his two sons, Scott Ferguson (Sherry) and Ric Ferguson (Kathy); his grandchildren, Stephen Ferguson (Candace), Sophie Heck (Kyle), Elliott Ferguson and Emma Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Anita Ferguson.
