TSgt William Joseph Nelson, USAF (Ret.), 95, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Bernice Rose De Moranville Nelson died Friday, January 11, 2019. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the North Area Chapel Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of the service.

William was born August 22, 1923 on a steamship coming to Long Island, New York, son of the late Mary Watral Nelson Leighty and the late George Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bernice; his children, Michael Nelson, Vanessa Davis, Anna Marie Bowling, Nettie Elnora Nelson, Sandra Villanueva, Alexa Lawrence and Richard Nelson; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Eva Jones and William Nelson, Jr.
