William "Bill" Franklin McBride, Jr.

William "Bill" Franklin McBride, Jr., 69, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, husband of Jacqueline Zastoupil McBride entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 14, 2018. He died at Embrace Hospice House following an extended illness. His graveside service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Bill was born August 29, 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late William Franklin McBride, Sr. and the late Juel Doscher McBride. He was raised in Charleston and attended St. Matthew's Lutheran Church growing up. He attended Charleston public schools and Graduated from St. Andrews High School in West Ashley. In 1970, Bill graduated from The Citadel majoring in Chemistry and Physics. Later, he obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology from USC in Columbia. He was an avid football and basketball fan, following The Citadel Bulldogs and USC.

Bill taught school in Walterboro, McCormick and Charleston, as well as coaching football and baseball. In the early 1980s, he served as headmaster of Cheraw Academy before entering construction in Cheraw. He was the owner and president of Carolina Construction, Inc. from 1987 to 2014. He retired to Murrells Inlet.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Murrells Inlet, SC; his son, Billy (Karen) of Florence, SC; his daughter, Kate of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Myriam and Maya McBride of Cosby, TN, and Wells and Collins McBride of Florence, SC; his brothers, Scott McClain (Lisa) of Charleston and David McClain (JoLee) of Hobe Sound, FL; niece, Skylar McClain of Charleston and nephew Daniel McClain of Hobe Sound, FL; special cousins, Cathy Melfi Curtis of Sullivans Island, SC and Reid (Cheryl) McBride of Murrells Inlet, SC; and beloved rescue dog, Gabby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian McBride.
