William Lloyd Leonard, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of the late Caroline Ballantine Leonard died Tuesday, May 19, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
William was born May 17, 1925 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John Thomas Leonard, Jr.and the late Clara Pringle Leonard. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and attended The Citadel. He founded the Vegetable Bin, loved to play cards and was a member of The Carolina Yacht Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Leonard Toole and her husband, Cary, of Mount Pleasant, SC and Ann Leonard Bailey and her husband Arthur, of Mount Pleasant, SC; one sister, Ann Leonard Hitt of Charleston, SC; two granddaughters, Tricia Martinson and her husband, Shane and Amelia Bailey; three grandsons, Michael Bailey and his wife, Lauren, William Bailey and John Cary Toole, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister, Clara Pringle Leonard and brother, John T. Leonard, III.
