William Eugene Kingsley, Jr.

William Eugene Kingsley, Jr., 85, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Kirkland Kingsley died Tuesday, May 16, 2017. His funeral service will be held Sunday, May 21, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

He was born May 8, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late William Eugene and Maude Lewis Kingsley. He served in the United States Air Force and is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. Bill, his father, and Charles Price, his brother in law worked together for over 40 years in the W.E. Kingsley Company (insurance). He retired from the business world and moved with his wife to Mt. Pleasant, SC to be close to his grandchildren. Bill was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. He was an active member of East Cooper/Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club having begun his affiliation with Kiwanis in 1967 as an original member of the Burley Kiwanis Club of Lexington, Kentucky. He loved his church, his family, golf, tennis and his Kentucky Wildcats.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara K. Kingsley of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Michelle K. Steinbrecher (Scott) of Mount Pleasant, SC; son, William E. Kingsley, III (Renee) of Dallas, TX; sister, Peggy Price (Charles) of Lexington, KY; granddaughter, Katelyn Elizabeth Drummond of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandson, Matthew Radcliffe Drummond of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and two nieces, Marilyn Price Smedley (Ron), Margaret Price Swim (Gary) and their families of Lexington, Ky.

Memorials may be made to East Cooper/Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis 2220 Atlantic Avenue, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482-9798 for funding the Amanda Bates Scholarship at Wando High School.
