William Donald Hilton Sr.

William "Buddy" D. Hilton, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal on rest Friday, August 5, 2022. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 712 Wappoo Road at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Christ-St. Paul's Parish Churchyard. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Buddy was born December 21, 1929, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late William Leroy Hilton and the late Lila Belle Caswell Hilton. He graduated from High School of Charleston in 1947 and was a 1951 graduate of College of Charleston. Buddy served two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Senior Vice President of American Mutual Fire and Casualty where he also made many regional and national speeches. Buddy was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, where he served on many committees, even as a fill in preacher. He was past president of the Charleston Sales and Marketing Club, past president of the Charleston Lions Club, past president of the College of Charleston Cougar Club and past Chairman of the Finance Committee of the College of Charleston Fund Raiser. Buddy's passions were his family, reading, book collecting, shrimping, and was a huge supporter of College of Charleston Cougars Basketball and the Atlanta Braves. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many people whose lives he touched.  

He is survived by his daughter, Lori E. Browne (Lee); his grandchildren, Katherine Broderick, Taylor Broderick (Josephine), Matthew Hilton and Trey Hilton (Holly), Elizabeth Mitchell, and Brian Mitchell (Meghan); his great-grandchildren, Parker Broderick, Evelyn Hilton, Dawn Hilton and Molly Eadie; son-in-law, Randy S. Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Melanie Hilton; 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marceline LaRoche Hilton; son, William Donald Hilton, Jr., and daughter, Rebecca Marceline Mitchell.
