William C. (Billy) Hilson, Jr. 82 of Charleston, South Carolina, and husband of Mary Thompson Hilson entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 31, 2013. Billy was born at home on March 21, 1931 in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of William Charles Hilson and Lina McCants Hilson. He grew up exploring downtown Charleston, the youngest of six children, being the only boy with five older sisters. He attended Charleston High and Murray Vocational Schools. He was a Navy Veteran (1951-1955) of the Korean Conflict and a life member of the Palmetto Gun Club. He was a very active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for 46 years. He was a retired supervisor from SCE&G, Canady's Power Plant. He was an avid marksman and hunter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service to celebrate Billy's life on Monday, November 4, 2013 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 712 Wappoo Road at 10:00 a.m. Interment services will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive visitors Sunday, November 3 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel (3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years of Charleston, SC and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters, Martha H. Wood, Alice H. Dandridge, Lina H. Phillips, Margaret H. Myrick, and Virginia H. Hinson. His family and friends will greatly miss his sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes.
