William Caldwell Hay, 53, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, husband of Linda Flake Hay, entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, April 30, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island, SC, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Gathering Place. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
William was born September 29, 1959 in Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Solomon Legare Hay, Jr. and the late Patricia Jones Hay. For 22 years William was the owner of Atlantic Storage and Installation. He attended First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head, SC and attended the University of South Carolina. William loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and boating when he was at his beloved family farm on Johns Island.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda F. Hay of Hilton Head Island, SC, son, First Lieutenant William Caldwell Hay, Jr. (Malori) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, daughter, Cameron Christine Hay of Hilton Head, SC, sisters, Charlotte Hay Tilton of Hilton Head, SC, and Cindy Hay Johnson of Charleston, SC, brother, Solomon L.(Bud) Hay, III (Peggy) of Charleston, SC, father and mother in law, Jack and Lucie Flake of Swansea, SC, brother and sister in law, Lee and Donna Flake of Manlius, NY, sister and brother in law, Vicki and Jeff Ball of Warner Robins, GA, nieces: Elizabeth Flake, Chandler Ball and Abbie Ball, and nephews: Alston Keith, Legare Hay, and Patrick Flake.
