William (Bill) George Halbritter, 88, of Charleston, SC, husband of Linda Dees Halbritter, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. His memorial service will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 in St. Andrews Parish United Methodist Church, 3225 Ashley River Road at 2:00 PM. Arrangements by J. Bill was born on September 3, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Olas and Edna Halbritter. He received his Industrial Engineering degree from Purdue University in Indiana and upon graduating, started a successful 25+ year sales and marketing career with FMC Link Belt, cumulating with a 3 year assignment in Mexico City as the general manager of the Link Belt plant. He then moved to Charleston and took over the management of Cameron and Barkley, and ultimately purchased and operated Coastal Lumber and Hardware in Charleston, SC before retiring.
Bill enjoyed a variety of hobbies through the years including growing orchids, woodworking, fishing, and traveling. His most recent and favorite hobby was traveling worldwide to photograph wildlife. Trips included traveling to Russia, China, India, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Martha Dickey Halbritter. He is survived by his wife Linda Dees Halbritter, sons William Halbritter Jr., and Allen Halbritter, his daughters Cynthia Ann Goodrich and her husband John Dupea, and Sandra Lynne de Lara and her husband Mauricio, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
