William F. Gamble, 78, of Summerville, SC, husband of Linda L.Gamble, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 2, 2022. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 12:00pm, in the J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd., North Charleston. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. The family will receive friends Monday, December 5, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Bill was born September 5, 1944 in Greelyville, South Carolina, son of the late Francis Dewey Gamble and Margaret Hagan Gamble. He was a proud veteran who faithfully served his country in the United States Army, then pursuing a career of 29 years with the Federal Civil Service as a Senior Tamms Clerk. His military service ended with his retirement from the Army National Guard as a Motor Sergeant, with Company B 1/118 M. Infantry MECH. After retirement, Bill liked to travel, woodwork in his shop, attend family luncheons and dinners, with breakfast being his favorite. His most favorite pastime was the entertainment of having his grands and great-grandchildren around him. Bill was a quiet man with a heart full of love for his family and he will be missed more than words could ever express.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; three daughters, Stefanie (Mike) Thomas of Charleston, Lisa (Dave) Fairman of Virginia and Natalie Joyner of Summerville; one son, TSgt. Raef W. (Krystina) Gamble, stationed in Texas; seven grandchildren, Bryan, Che'la, Hailey, Emalee, Mason, Aubree and Wyatt; three great-grandchildren, Remingtyn, Denver and Kohltyn; two sisters, Barbara Jean Fields and Margaret Ann Guy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt Daisey Guess and a cousin, Bubba Guess of Greelyville.
