William R. Emery, 80, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, died unexpectedly on October 2, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann K. Emery, his daughter Courtney (Emily) and his 3½ year old grandson Jackson.
Bill was born on March 27, 1945, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to William R. Emery and Mae Allam Emery. He graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where he was an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha, and then he received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He had a long career in sales with Panasonic, eventually serving as Group General Manager for the factory automation and industrial battery divisions. His work afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout Asia including Japan dozens of times, where he fell in love with the cuisine.
After his retirement from Panasonic, Bill owned Gimmie Ad Concepts in North Charleston, South Carolina. He always said it was his most fun job! Bill loved tennis and played for many years while living in New Jersey, Illinois and South Carolina. In retirement he discovered golf, and he deeply appreciated all the new friends he made through the game. He was an active volunteer within Wild Dunes, serving on the Board of Directors of the Wild Dunes Community Association and Wild Dunes Tennis Association. He also served the First United Methodist Church of Isle of Palms in several capacities. He was a one of a kind person who loved his family and enjoyed travel, reading, the Green Bay Packers and good humor.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 9, at 11am at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville, Kentucky. A celebration on Isle of Palms will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Chris and Patsy Nielsen Scholarship Fund at Transylvania University (Kappa Chapter Alumni Association, 840 Hays Blvd., #6207, Lexington, KY 40509) or to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel and Stith Funeral Home. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting www.jhenrystuhr.com.
