William "Bill" E. McCorkle, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Virginia McMillan McCorkle entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 20, 2021. His graveside service will be held Monday, January 25, 2021, in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Bill was born on September 19, 1927, in Charleston, son of the late William Perry McCorkle and Ida Jachens McCorkle. He was a devoted husband and father. Bill was married to the love of his life for 71 years. He and his wife Virginia were charter members of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. Bill was a World War II Naval Veteran.
He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia; and his sister, Miriam M. Lancaster. Bill is survived by three sons: William E. McCorkle, Jr., (Sylvia) of Troy, VA, L. Edward McCorkle (Page) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Robert B. McCorkle (Terry) of Jacksonville, FL; and one daughter, Janet M. Kruger (Mark) of James Island, SC: six grandchildren: Shellie, Aimee, Miles, Katie, Mark and Erich, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
