William Vichael Dison, Jr., 85, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, husband of Mary J. Dison entered into eternal rest Friday, January 31, 2014. His funeral service will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Charlestowne Methodist Church, 1405 Miles Drive at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3903 Ashley River Road. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
William was born August 9, 1928 in Vincent, Alabama, son of the late William Vichael Dison, Sr. and Annie Black Dison. For over 20 years, he owned and operated a Piggly Wiggly supermarket on King Street in Charleston, upon selling the store, he then went to work for J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. He was a long-time member of the Charleston Chapter of Civitan, where he served in many roles, including fundraising and Special Olympics. He was of the Methodist faith and member of West Ashley Southern Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jones Dison of Stone Mountain, GA; daughter, Jeanette Mary Dison of Lexington, KY; daughter, Lizbeth Anne Dison, son-in-law William S. Brantley, III and granddaughter, Emma Elisabeth Dison Brantley, all of Tucker, GA; brother, Raymond F. Dison of Harpersville, AL; and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews across several states.
