William Douglas Coleman, Sr., 59, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018.
Born in Galveston, Texas, he was the son of the late Virginia Coleman and Robert Thomas Coleman, Jr. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and The University of the South (Sewanee), where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and the Red Ribbon Society. He went on to build a career in international shipping and was the owner and president of Summit Transport.
Bill was a dedicated family man and especially enjoyed making memories with his son. He found joy in Texas Longhorn football, Duke Blue Devils basketball, and soul music.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Bridgeman Coleman; son, William Douglas Coleman, Jr.; sister, Susan Coleman Buzbee; brother, Robert Thomas Coleman, III (Claudia); brother, Frank Hutchinson Coleman; sisters-in-law, Linda Barnette (Rick) and Beth Gaffney (Chris) and six nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Church at Life Park, 1151 George Browder Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466, on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 3:00 P.M.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. On Thursday, March 15, 2018, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
