Entered into eternal rest on the morning of February 18, 2011 William Augustus Burbage, Jr., husband of Annie Laura Burbage. Residence, Ravenel, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. William Burbage, Jr. are invited to attend his funeral service Monday, February 21, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Ravenel at 2 o'clock. Burial will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL this Sunday afternoon from 5 until 7 o'clock.
Mr. Burbage was born March 19, 1927 in Ravenel, South Carolina, Charleston County, son of the late William A. Burbage, Sr. and the late Julia Lacey Burbage. He was a United States Army veteran and was retired from Charleston County Public Works after 32 years of service. He was also the owner of Burbage Meats and Burbage Mobile Home Parks. Mr. Burbage was a member of First Baptist Church of Ravenel and was an avid deer hunter, member of Barn Hill Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife Annie Burbage of 64 years; three sons, Marion H. Burbage of Charleston, Donald W. Burbage, Sr. and his wife Harriett of Ravenel, William A. Burbage, III and his wife Carol of Ravenel; two sisters, Gertrude Burbage of Ravenel and Margie May of Kingston, NC; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Burbage of Ridgeville, SC; 5 grandchildren, April Burbage of Charleston, Felecia Hodges of Charleston, William A. Burbage, IV of Ravenel, Melissa Burbage of Charleston and Donald W. Burbage, Jr. of Meggett; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Burbage was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
