William "Billy" Yongue Buchanan, Jr.

William "Billy" Yongue Buchanan, Jr., 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Nancy Linton Buchanan died Saturday, November 23, 2024. 

He was born February 27, 1942 in Winnsboro, South Carolina, son of William Yongue Buchanan and Ellen Brice Buchanan. He was a graduate of Davidson College and the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his training in Radiology at the National Medical Center in Bethesda,MD. He practiced in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 20 years before retiring to Charleston. With a wry sense of humor he had fun playing the trickster, but he was a deeply thoughtful person who enjoyed crafting interesting letters to his family and friends. He was a gentle, kind man who loved dogs, reading, music, gadgets, and anything Apple.

 In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children: William Y. Buchanan III (April), Robert Patrick Buchanan, Nancy Rowe Abercrombie; John Roger Rowe, Jr. (Karen); eight grandchildren: James McCall Abercrombie, Nancy Grier Abercrombie, John Roger Rowe III, Elizabeth Jane Rowe, Samuel Hammond Rowe, Briggs William Buchanan, Nash Yongue Buchanan, Turner Anthony Buchanan; two sisters, Evelyn B. Krask and Ellen W. Buchanan.

 His funeral service will be held at later date. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Country Club of Charleston, 1 Country Club Drive, Charleston, SC 29412. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
