William "Bill" Jennings Brown, Sr., 92, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of the late Margaret Lawton Brown, entered into eternal rest Friday, August 22, 2014. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, at 10:00 am. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with Rosary starting at 6:00 pm.Bill was born June 26, 1922 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Franklin Cleveland Brown and Francis Keister Brown Brailsford. He was a graduate of Summerton HS, Rice Business College, and served as a US Army Staff Sergeant in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked in the LP gas industry as a bookkeeper and mechanic. He was a member of the Uptown Exchange Club, where he served as Secretary and Treasurer, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill also served Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #15, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, as well as Troop #6 Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by five daughters, Margaret B. Kirchner of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Bernadette M. Brown of St. Petersburg, FL, Christine B.. Mitchum of Huger, SC, Amanda B. Woods of Hollywood, SC, and Bunny B. Nielson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, William Jennings Brown, Jr. of Athens, GA, and Damian L. Brown of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandsons, Benjamin F. Woods, Jr., Kaylom D. Mitchum, Kelly "Will" Kirchner, Gordon R. Nielson, and Steven J. Nielson; and four great-grandchildren, Thomas Woods, Christian Woods, Peyton Woods, and Kinsey Mitchum.
