William M. Blume, Sr., 85, husband of Clarice Leary Blume, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on January 8, 2011. The relatives and friends of William M. Blume, Sr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 1393 Miles Drive, Charleston, SC at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, from 6 to 8 pm. Mr. Blume was born December 26, 1925 in Asheville, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Herbert Blume and Agnes Hare Blume. He was a graduate of St. Andrews Parish High School and The University of South Carolina. His career spanned working as a Chemical Engineer with the Westvaco Company where he was the Papermill Superintendent, and also with Bolton-Emerson where he was head of the sales group. He was active in the Episcopal Church and served as Junior and Senior Warden at both St. Peter's By The Sea and St. George's. Most recently, he served as a Lay Reader with The Church of the Good Shepherd. He was passionate about his fishing, hunting, and golf. Mr. Blume is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Clarice Leary Blume; his children, William M. Blume, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Mt. Pleasant, Pamela B. Youmans and her husband, James of Awendaw, and Thomas J. Blume and his wife, Kathy of Springfield, VA. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Will Blume and his wife, Lisa; Chris Blume and his wife, Ashley; Katie Blume; Allyson Brown and her husband, Ell; Matt Youmans; and Nicole Clarke and her husband, Tommy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Joseph S. Leary and his wife, Gail of Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd, 1393 Miles Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
