Willard Wilson Hutson, Sr., 95, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Edith Heisser Hutson entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 15, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 19, 2018 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday in Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Willard was born May 17, 1922 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Harry H.F. Hutson and Ethel Grayson Hutson. He attended Charleston schools where he played football and was called "Speedy." Willard served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and was a member of "The Greatest Generation." He worked for Walker, Evans and Cogswell Printing Company as a foreman for 35 years and later opened W.W. Hutson, Inc. Printing Company. Willard was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son, Willard Wilson Hutson, Jr. (Carol) of Columbia, SC; daughter, Sandra H. Collins (Robin) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; eight grandchildren: Robin Young Williams, Amy Dunn, Bryan Collins, Timothy H. Collins, Heidi Rudloff, Heather Rogers, Lauren Hinrichs and Grayson Hutson; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and half-sister, Rena Nichols of New Mexico.He was predeceased by his daughter; Suzanne Hutson Young; and grandson, Lawrence Clement Young.
