Wilfred Edward Lipman, 89, of Folly Beach, SC, husband of Cynthia Tucker Lipman entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 14, 2014. His Funeral Service was held graveside Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery (Maryville), at 5:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Wilfred was born July 6, 1925 in Charleston, SC, son of Max D. Lipman and Sara Sanders Lipman.
Wilfred was a graduate of Clemson College. He worked for NASA and was an inventor. Wilfred was the first mayor of Sullivan's Island and was a member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a lifelong Clemson fan. A cherished memory of his family is his saying, "Do you love Poppy, deep down and all that jazz? Are you sincere? Are you illiterate? Are you meshugenah?" It was Poppy's deal for giving Poppy candies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Deborah L. Cochelin of WA, Shelly Lipman of AK, David Lipman of Thailand, Jinni L. Authier of SC, Jill Cammilletti of VA, and Pierre Authier of SC; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Goldberg.
