Wilford Bartow Hoats

Wilford Bartow Hoats, Jr., 89, of James Island, South Carolina, widower of Mildred Elizabeth McKnight Hoats entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of service at the chapel. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 1:00 pm.

Wilford was born January 20, 1926 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Wilford Bartow Hoats and Blanche Driggers Hoats. He served with the US Navy Submarine Fleet during WWII and retired as Chief of Maintenance with the College of Charleston. He was also a Member of the James Island Masonic Lodge #396 and The Omar Shrine Temple.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Frances Hoats Wolff (Brian) of Moncks Corner, SC: two sons, Wm. Keith Hoats (Linda) of Summerville, SC, and Timothy Wayne Hoats (Cindy) of Charleston, SC two sisters, Ayvonne Graham and Delores Grooms both of Summerville, SC; brother, H.L. "Sonny" Blumenberg of Summerville, SC; three grandchildren Cameron Hoats, Liana Hoats and Matt Hoats.
