Wilber Willard Neumeyer

May 24, 1925 — February 27, 2016

Wilber "Wil" Willard Neumeyer, 90, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Jean Rogers Neumeyer died peacefully in his retirement community, Franke-at-Seaside on Saturday, February 27, 2016. His Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in the Rodenberg Chapel, Franke-at-Seaside, 1600 Franke Drive at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Wil was born May 24, 1925 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, son of the late Edwin Neumeyer and the late Emma Aufdenburg Neumeyer. He attended Southeast Missouri State University before serving stateside in the U.S. Navy, Naval Aviation Corps, from 1943-1946. Wil also continued his military service in the Naval Reserve for 9 years. Upon the ending of WWII, he returned to finish college, and this is where he met his great love, Jean A. Rogers. Married since 1948, they recently celebrated their 67th anniversary.Having a business degree, Wil embarked on a long sales career in the electrical wire and cable business which started in St. Louis and moved the family to New York, Cleveland, Boston, St. Louis, and Chicago. He retired in 1988, and with Jean, made Mt. Pleasant, SC, their new forever home. Wil enjoyed exploring his various ports-of-call with his family, and broadened his great interests including music, art, nature, sailing, and tennis. Wil never met a stranger, and enjoyed making people laugh. Always active in the church, Wil served as Senior Warden at Grace Episcopal Church, Charleston. He also found time to volunteer, and to socialize and remember his lifelong friends.

In addition to his wife, Jean, of Mt. Pleasant, his is survived by his three children, David (Mary Barney), Nancy (Tom Brian), and Kathy (Darrel Parker), and grandchildren Ben Neumeyer, Joy Neumeyer, and Nathan Brian. He is also survived by nephews Don Neumeyer, Tom Neumeyer, niece Jeanette Zinkgraff, and sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Neumeyer. His brother Gordon Neumeyer preceded him in death. Always the traveler, Wil dearly loved his roots, family, and friends.
