Wesley Freeman Googer, 70, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Monday, July 4, 2016. His memorial service will be held at Decatur First Methodist Church Chapel, 312 Sycamore St., at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016. Reception to follow.
Wes was born February 19, 1946 in Decatur, Georgia, son of the late Marcus Dee Googer, Jr. and the late Mary Ann Farr Googer. He graduated from Georgia State University and served in the United States Navy. He was a longtime employee of Rich's and Macy's Department Stores in Atlanta working in inventory control. Wes was a member of American Legion Post 136, enjoyed playing pool and was an excellent trivia player.
He is survived by brother, Marcus D. Googer and his wife, Sue, of Mount Pleasant, SC; three nephews, Gregory Dunlap and his wife, Kathryn, of Spartanburg, SC, Marc Austin Googer and his wife, Angela, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Blair Freeman Googer and his wife, Bevin, of Georgetown, SC; and seven great nieces and nephews.
