PO1 Wayne Ellard Sporman, US Navy Ret., 67, of Summerville, SC, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
Wayne was born February 22, 1946 in Hammond, IN, son of the late Arthur Frederick Sporman and the late Evelyn Pearl Vienotte Sporman. A true patriot who loved his country Wayne served in the US Navy for over 20 years as an Electronics Technician. He enjoyed watching the History Channel and documentaries which gave him an unique and intelligent sense of humor; he was a real jokester. Known as a "Mr. Fix It" Wayne repaired and collected antique radios. His hobbies included repairing electronics, keeping up with computer technology and mobile phones, taking pictures and camping. Some of his favorite past times were fish fries and eating oysters. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Wayne loved his family especially his grandchildren and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Karen Bidema and her husband Eric of Summerville, SC; step-daughter, Rena Sweeting of Summerville, SC; grandchildren: Amanda "Tootie", Jewel, Brian, Eric Jr. and Katelyn; great-grandchild, Dez; brothers: Fred Sporman and his wife Evelyn of Keller, TX, Ron Sporman and his wife Alma of Leesburg, FL and Ben Sporman of Leesburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Sporman.
