Waylon Odell Blackmon

Waylon Odell Blackmon, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Lois Jean Roche Blackmon passed away Monday, April 27, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Waylon was born August 25, 1933 in Dunn, North Carolina, son of the late Robert Blackmon and the late Cora Elizabeth Tew Blackmon. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years as an Air Traffic Controller. He later retired from the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.

He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Lois Jean Blackmon of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Jennifer Sprott (Morgan) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, Christopher Blackmon (Genevieve Rupley) of Suwannee, GA.; two granddaughters: Emerson and Elliott Sprott of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is also survived by his sisters: Jean Whittenton of Dunn, NC, Edna Strickland of Wade, NC and Maxine Naylor of Lumberton, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Cora Blackmon of Dunn, North Carolina and brother, James Robert Blackmon of Clinton, North Carolina.
