Wayland Earl Moody, Sr.

Wayland Earl Moody, Sr., 78, of Summerville, SC, died Monday, November 26, 2018. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue at 11:00 am. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm .

Wayland was born October 23, 1940 in Lakeview, SC, son of the late Hyman Vivan Moody and Virginia Dalma Morgan Moody. He was the President and Owner of Berkeley Mining and Construction. Wayland was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was Chairman of the Berkeley County Planning and Zoning Committee and served on the Water and Sewer Commission. He was the Republican Man of The Year - 2007 and Recipient of the South Carolina Palmetto Patriot. Wayland was elected twice to serve as a representative from South Carolina to serve on the Electoral College Board.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Enter Moody of Summerville, SC; two daughters, Nancy Moody Bergin (Tyler) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Karen Moody Prevo (Brian) of Summerville, SC; two sons, Wayland E. Moody, Jr. (Shelly) of Moncks Corner, SC and William Michael Moody (Stacey) of Summerville, SC; ten siblings: Donna Smith, Gena O'Neal, Carol Bellamy, Wanda Key, Audrey O'Neal, Danny Moody, Wayne Moody, Hyman Moody, Jr., Mike Moody, Kenny Moody; and eleven grandchildren.
