Wayde Allen Bowick

November 1, 1946 — August 8, 2011

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of August 8, 2011, Wayde Allen Bowick, Sr., husband of Judy Donaldson Bowick.  Residence, Ravenel, South Carolina.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bowick are invited to attend his funeral service at the graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11 am.  The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL this Wednesday afternoon from 5 until 7 pm.


Allen was born on November 1, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late James Sinkler Bowick and the late Nona Mae Postell Bowick Rivers.  He attended Mitchell and Memminger elementary schools and Murray Vocational high school.  He was a 1964 graduate of St. Pauls High School.   In June of 1964 he entered the United States Marine Corps and Allen served a fourteen month tour of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in June of 1968.  Afterward he joined the I.B.E.W., he completed four years Electrical apprenticeship.  In February of 1977 he became employed by the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Electrical Shop #99 and in August of 1994 with the shipyard on the verge of closing, Allen relocated his family to Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point, N.C., where he retired with 29 � years of service.. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ravenel and also a member of IBEW Local 916.


Surviving are his loving wife Judy Donaldson Bowick of 42 years; son, Wayde Allen Bowick, Jr. of Ravenel; daughter, Miranda Bowick Pate and her husband Benjie Pate of New Bern, NC; two granddaughters, Emma and Grace Pate; brother, Vivien Rivers and his wife Ira of Summerville, sister, Paula Petit and her husband William Petit of James Island.  He is predeceased by a brother James S. Bowick, Jr.
