Warren Edward Murray, 75, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 29, 2018. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m.
Warren was born October 5, 1943 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, son of the late Edward Elias Murray and Wilhelmena Hughes Murray. He was a graduate of the College of Charleston, did post-graduate studies at Rutgers University (where he developed a lifelong love for growing orchids), and earned his Master's Degree from The Citadel. Warren was a retired teacher of Biology, Chemistry and Physics at Wando High School and The School of the Arts, reveling in helping students understand complex concepts and appreciate the wonder and beauty of creation. A beloved and gifted educator, he excelled not only in teaching but also in coaching, sponsoring extra-curricular activities, especially those involving nature, and in molding citizens and scholars.
Warren is survived by his sister, Geraldine Murray Spivey Meadows (Gene) of Charleston, SC; brother, George Wendell Murray (Shirley) of N. Royalton, OH; three nieces: Kimberly Murray-Atkian (Ron), Pamela Karen Spivey and Elizabeth Spivey Hopkins (Sheridan); and two nephews: Bill Murray and Marty Spivey. He was predeceased by a nephew, Christopher Spivey.
