Wanda Marie Brown Clark, 89, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of John G. Clark, died Friday, March 25, 2016. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Wanda was born in Andrews, SC, the only child of the late William David Brown and Wanda Isokreit Brown. She moved to Charleston with her parents when she was two years old. She married John "Jack" G. Clark in 1952 and they remained together until his death in January 2002.
Mrs. Clark was a retired administrator of the law firm of Grimball and Cabaniss, where she was employed her entire working life.
She was an active member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church, where she was a member of various church boards and of the United Methodist Women, as well as a substitute Sunday School Teacher. Wanda was a member and past president of the former Charleston Civitan Auxiliary, and a member and past president of the former Dogwood Garden Club.
She is survived by her son, Mark W. Clark, her daughter-in-law, Karen Merchant Clark, and two grandsons, William Gainsley Clark and Matthew Connor Clark, all of Mt. Pleasant. Besides her husband, Wanda was predeceased by two sons, John Gainsley Clark III and Timothy David Clark.
