Wanda Tluczek Berry

April 6, 1931 — April 13, 2018

Wanda Tluczek Berry, 87, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to all, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 13, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born on April 6, 1931 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Wanda was the daughter of Polish immigrants, the late Pawel and Agnieszka Tluczek. She had great pride in her Canadian roots and the love she had for Canada was always present. Wanda was a graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton. She moved to South Carolina in 1957 with former spouse, Joe E. Berry, Jr. of Columbia.

Wanda will be remembered best as a faithful servant of God and as a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother and went by the nickname "Gogi" given to her by her grandson. The true joy of her life came from spending quality time with her family including numerous trips to the beach. Wanda was an avid tennis player and church volunteer, and passed on her deep love of animals to her children and grandchildren. As her children got older, she enjoyed working for the State of South Carolina for many years, especially her time at the Legislative Council.

Wanda is survived by her children: Joe Earle Berry, III of Camden; Paula Berry Joseph (Bobby) of Camden; Agnes Berry Dixon (Ben) of Johns Island; grandchildren: Lucas, Clark, Nellie, Lily and Jack; step-grandchildren: Benjamin, Caleb, and Laura Ann; nephews: Paul, John, and David; and great-nephews: Nicholas and Sam Tamberelli. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul John Berry; step-father, Stanley Malek; brother, John Tluczek; and nieces: Janice Tluczek and Connie Tamberelli.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1709 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC at 3:00 p.m. Prayers of Farewell and Final Commendation will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the burial at the home of Joe E. Berry, Jr. of Columbia.

In lieu of flowers and out of her special love for dogs, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Precious Paws, P.O. Box 697, Madisonville, TN 37354 or donations may also be made to: Lutheran Hospice, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Suite 46, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 in honor of the angels who gave Wanda such amazing end of life care.
