Walter Richard "Rick" Stephens, Jr., P.E.

Walter Richard "Rick" Stephens, Jr., P.E., 77, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, husband of Glenda Dale Hatchell Stephens, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 23, 2022. His Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd., North Charleston, SC at 11:00AM.  Interment will be private.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Rick was born December 27, 1944 in North Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Walter Richard Stephens, Sr. and Laura Elise Dubose Stephens.  He graduated in 1974 from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He was the owner and operator of Mount Holly Metal Works, a steel fabrication shop and later owned W.R. Stephens & Associates, a Structural Engineering and Detailing company.  He had many successes in his business, but was particularly proud of his work for NASA and the renovation of the United States Pentagon.  He was a proud Life Member of the NRA, former Treasurer of the Cooper River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, as well as a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).  Rick was an avid duck and dove hunter and enjoyed traveling with his son to the various gun shows.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.  

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dale; daughter, Kimberly Stephens and son, Paul Stephens; grandsons, Joshua Stephens and Nicholas Stephens; nieces, Laura Stephens Dieter and Sarah Hatchell Barksdale; nephew, Ronald W. Hatchell; brother, Benjamin Robert Stephens.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
