Walter Morgan Pharr, Jr., 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 6, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel at 11:00 am, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Walter was born June 8, 1944 in Macon, Georgia, son of the late Walter Morgan Pharr Sr. and Agnes Hickey Pharr. 

Walter was a professor of Computer Science at the College of Charleston, where he taught for 30 years and made a lasting impact on the undergraduate curriculum. He was passionate about classical music and an avid science fiction fan. He found great joy spending time with family and friends. 

He is survived by his son, Edward James Pharr; and his grandchildren John Walter Pharr and Julia Elizabeth Pharr. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Sue Pharr.

Memorial donations can be made in Walter's memory to the American Cancer Society.
