Walter “Mick” McEvers, 90, born April 17, 1935, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his residence. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel at 1:30pm. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.

Mr. McEvers retired from the USDA after a 38-year career. He joined the HACCP consulting group, based in Arlington, VA, as senior Vice President. He was also hired as a training coordinator. Mick served 10 years in the Army reserves and was discharged in 1964. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Mick was a member and office holder of the James Island Optimist Club. He graduated from Belleville Township High School and attended Belleville area Junior College.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Patrick McEvers, parents, William Lewis McEvers & Mildred McEvers (nee) Kuhn, brothers W.L. McEvers Jr., Buddy R. McEvers, and sister, Dolly.

He is survived by his wife Wanda L. McEvers; his daughter, Wendy Sue McEvers (Keith); sister, Patricia Ann Cook; brothers-in-law, Leonard J Durnell (Sharon Durnell) and John L Durnell (Richard R Eaton); nieces, Leslie Lindauer (Scott Lindauer) and Stephanie Dalman (Phil Dalman); nephew, David Cook (Anne Cook) and four grandchildren: Peter Demos of Aiken, SC, Phoebe Huff (Billy) of Hollywood, SC, Ellen Alvens (Josh) of Pinnacle, NC, Brian Demos (Cristy) of Charleston, SC, and seven great-grandchildren: Eleni Huff, Brianna Huff, Dorothy Huff, Reagan Demos, Jack Demos, Stevie Alvens, Mickie Alvens.
