Walter Dennis Hogue

Walter Dennis Hogue, 81, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, husband of Brenda Watson Hogue, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 9, 2025.

His funeral service will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, at 12:00 followed by internment in Holy Cross Cemetery, on James Island. The family will receive Friends and Family at the Downtown Chapel from 10:00 am until the time of service. 

Dennis' Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Rock Hill Country Club, 600 Country Club Drive, Rock Hill, SC from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

Dennis was born May 22, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Andrew Jacob Hogue and Martha Smith Hogue. He was a graduate of the James Island High School, Class of 1961. He graduated from Chowan College (Chowan University), attended University of South Carolina, and received his bachelor’s degree in business at The Baptist College of Charleston (Charleston Southern University).

Dennis served on the Visitation Board at Chowan University, Murfreesboro, NC He was on the Greens Committee at the Rock Hill Country Club. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill, SC where he served as an usher. Dennis was passionate about selling cutting tools (Carbide) in the Metal Cutting Industry through his company Hogue & Associates. Dennis was fondly known as “The Hoguer”.

He is survived by the love of his life of 56 years, Brenda; daughter, Ashley Denise LeMire (Mark) of Alpharetta, GA; three grandsons: Bradley Tomlinson Ross, Jr., Brenden Hogue Ross and Jacob O’Hearn Ross; step granddaughter, Kendall Elizabeth LeMire; step grandson, Cole Edward LeMire all from Alpharetta, GA; sister, Martha Lynn Hutto of Gent, WV; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and Alabama family.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Martha; his in-laws, Arthur and Francis Watson; brother, Andrew Jacob Hogue, Jr., brother and sister-in-law, Warren Hogue (Loraine)
